Getting gifts of significance

Gifts of significance are rare but often result in lifelong partnerships, writes major-gifts fundraiser James Hodge.

Hodge, manager of the principal gifts program at the Mayo Clinic-Rochester, favors a relationship-based philanthropy model that encourages major-gift seekers to build ownership among donors by "authentically involving" them in the organization's mission.

For an excerpt from Hodge's article, published in "Achieving Excellence in Fundraising" by Hank Rosso, visit the website of The Fund Raising School at Indiana University, where Hodge serves on the faculty.
