Arts workshop comes to Rocky Mount

Building a culture for the arts will be the focus of a one-day workshop to be held Feb. 29 in Rocky Mount.

The session will analyze the place of the arts in local economicdevelopment and provide ideas for identifying and bolstering arts andcrafts communities and the local arts culture.

Held at the Rocky Mount Imperial Centre, the event will run from 9a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and feature a talk on the arts and economicdevelopment by Becky Anderson of Handmade in America.

The fee of $25, and $15 for students, includes a box lunch. Admission is free for members of the Creative Communities Commission.

The event is provided by the Foundation of Renewal in Eastern NorthCarolina and the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute for Private Enterpriseat the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
