The Program Manager, BCBSNC Foundation is responsible for managing both grants and signature programs for the Community Impact through Nonprofit Excellence focus area of the BCBSNC Foundation. Leads the proposal review process, makes investment recommendations to the Foundation board, manages grants and several signature programs. Serves as the liaison between the Foundation and key community leaders, nonprofits, and government organizations in support of the focus area. Researches and understands community needs, and works to align Foundation resources in support of those needs. Collaborates closely with BCBSNC Foundation team members, community relations team members, business owners, and sponsors to develop and successfully implement grants and programs. Identifies, evaluates, and resolves issues that conflict with project deliverables. Assesses project risks, and develops mitigation and contingency plans. Oversees assigned projects and works to ensure projects have required resources, meet milestones, and are successfully implemented.Requirements:
  • Undergraduate degree
  • At least five years work experience in one of the following fields: program/project management, non profit organization or foundation experience
  • Excellent PC skills (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Additional Skills & Knowledge:
  • Advance degree preferred.
  • Foundation and/or health care industry knowledge or experience.
  • Experience in grant-making and community relations.
  • Successful project management experience necessary in a cross-functional environment.
  • MicroEdge knowledge preferred.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Proven ability to manage own work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of health care, health policy, corporate philanthropy, foundations, and related issues.
  • Ability to achieve results through influence of key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to excel working in an environment that is linked to a larger corporate system; and an ability to be flexible in a complex and changing business environment.
  • Excellent planning, interpersonal, and problem solving skills are required.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills including the ability to engage effectively one-on-one as well as with a large group in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to effectively tailor communications for various audiences.
    Self-starter demonstrating a willingness to take ownership of projects, and a drive and commitment to make things happen.
